If you would like to discuss which package would best suit you or just need to ask for parenting advice on an ad hoc basis we can help. Consultations will initially booked for an hour session. Advice and information can be provided regarding feeding your baby, sleep issues, behaviour management, child development, weaning, family relationships and dynamics, sibling rivalry, family routines, age-appropriate activities and any of the other worries which can effect parents. Consultations are aimed at helping solve small difficulties or concerns quickly, will usually be booked for within a few days from enquiry to suit you and will involve a brief assessment of the situation and advice tailored to you and your baby or child’s needs. If one consultation needs follow up this can be arranged but no worries if you need more ongoing help, a package of advice can be arranged for you which is more robust in the form of a programme of support for several weeks.  Usually if a consultation leads to you booking a package I woill happily reduce the cost of the package to make the consultation free of charge. I look forward to helping you with this.  If you would like to discuss any of the programmes to see if a one off consultation or longer package is best for you please contact me. I am very happy to talk it through with you.

2 week foundation programme

A Sleep Package will be tailored to you, your home, with your family and baby. It will include two one hour sessions with calls and texts between to ensure you receive the support you need. It will help you develop good calming practices with your baby. It will focus on helping your baby learn to settle without your help, whilst maintaining the principles of responsive parenting. You will never be instructed to leave your baby to cry for periods of time and will be able to soothe and comfort your baby as much as you like. At the end of the programme you will have the skills and confidence required to promote good sleep for your baby as they grow more mature. The programme will inevitably include advice about feeding patterns and management of wind, reflux and other difficulties which can impact on a baby’s sleep patterns. This package is not just about sleep but abut all the new challenges a tiny baby presents. Some babies will have the ability to sleep through the night and some will still wake for feeds but all babies will have an increased ability to self soothe which is the foundation of good sleep routines to follow. If the new baby issues are more complex or you feel you would like more intensive, longer term support, check out my postnatal packages which are 6 or 8 week programmes designed to really set up new parents with the tools to start their journey with a newborn. I look forward to helping you with this.  If you would like to discuss which programme would best suit your situation please contact me. I am very happy to talk it through with you.

A Sleep Package will be tailored to you, your home, family and child as an individual. It will help most children sleep through the night without needing to wake for more than a sip of water. You will become more able to settle your child into bed without needing to help and they will develop good bedtime and sleep routines. You will not be told to leave your child crying in any way you are unhappy with and will not be expected to be unkind to them during the process. 4 weeks programme

A Weaning and Routines programme will be tailored to your baby’s needs.  It will include four hourly sessions with text and phone call support in between as needed. It will be designed to be successful
in the context of your family’s schedule, your child’s personality and their motivations. It will adhere to the recommended dietary intake for
your baby as they move from a milk based diet to family foods.
The focus will be on developing healthy mealtimes and routines. It will introduce you to the progression from early foods to family meals, will guide you regarding suitable foods at the various stages and will include advice regarding choking and management of your own fears and anxieties with introducing food. How to safely wean a baby from exclusive breast and or formula with enjoyment for both you and your baby will be the main focus of the programme. It will be done in conjunction with the move to a better organised day, with an increased understanding of the routines and scheduling that can be achieved with a baby this age.  It will never be a rigid approach and there will be no ‘rules’ other than those needed for the health and safety of your baby. Baby led weaning will be explained and advice will be given to you according to whichever approach to weaning you feel most comfortable with. This programme has strong similarities to the Behaviour Management programme as so much of a baby’s behaviour is linked with routines.  We will invariably cover some of the same ground so do not book both of these without discussing a discount in cost with me. I want you to have value for money and not pay twice for repetition. This programme will help you feel more organised, more in control and less stressed by an unpredictable baby.  I look forward to helping you with this. Maybe you are worried about your child and want some reassurance. Maybe you wish to have some evidence to confirm your more serious concerns to a health or educational professional to get the support you feel your child needs. Or maybe you just want to know more about your child’s development and ways of promoting it. Understanding your baby or child’s stage of development is an important part of being able to enjoy time with them and encourage them to reach their potential. If they have areas of development which they are struggling with, understanding this will enable you to manage their learning and behaviour more successfully.  Sometimes children behave in a certain way because they have not reached the developmental stage to do any differently. I can help you establish whether your child has reached certain developmental milestones and I can suggest ways of assisting them and if necessary tailored interventions can more realistically be planned. Using internationally recognised tools for assessment I can advise you regarding developmental stages, ways of improving development, appropriate toys and activities for your baby or child and I can explain any difficulties your child may be having.  I can then monitor or advise if more specialist assessment, for example, by a child development paediatrician, speech therapist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, ophthalmologist or audiologist  might be required. If no further assessment is required, this can still be a very useful way of ensuring you are using correct techniques and approaches in managing your child’s routines and behaviours. The development assessment includes a 1-2 hour assessment of general health and of full development, including assessment of communication, motor skills, social and emotional development and problem solving.  This will of course be assessed allowing for your child’s age and any prematurity.  A full report will be provided which can be kept as a personal record but can equally be presented to a health or education professional to help access additional support if required.  I will offer follow up support and repeat assessments at reduced cost as needed. I look forward to helping with this.  If you would like to discuss further do not hesitate to contact me.

Discovering a pregnancy can be an exciting but frightening time. Being in a different country and not receiving the service you might have had, and family support nearby can increase anxiety as labour day looms.  I can help you.  With an extensive history of working with pregnant and new parents, I have run antenatal classes in the UK NHS and have provided antenatal and postnatal support to thousands of women over the last 25 years. The standard antenatal package comprises three home visits of up to 1.5 hours. At these visits we will get to know each other, will explore preparation for labour, including what to take to hospital, signs of labour, types of labour and what to expect as your body prepares to deliver your baby. We will also look beyond labour day and discuss the care of a newborn, including common ailments, feeding, hygiene and sleep.  All preparation is done having discussed your family situation, home environment, your pregnancy so far and any issues which might affect your experiences on this journey. I strongly believe (and studies support this) that being well prepared for labour and parenthood not only reduces anxiety and stress as the delivery approaches but can also reduce the likelihood of difficulties occurring during labour and beyond.  Understanding how your body is working and what life will be like in the early weeks can greatly help you feel in control and in the long-term far more able to cope with a lower likelihood of developing postnatal depression. If you have any additional or specific concerns, whether medical or emotional I can offer an enhanced bespoke package to help you feel more prepared and supported. Booking the standard package will get the ball rolling and we can add in more contact as needed after meeting each other and discussing your individual needs. I look forward to supporting you with this and if you would like to discuss it with me to see if you feel I could help you I would love to hear from you.

Delivering a baby, particularly if you are in a country which has not historically been your home, can be a frightening and vulnerable time.  Your recovery and the care of your new baby can feel tough and at times overwhelming.  There is so much that comes naturally but lots of what is required with a new baby is just about understanding the development of babies, how they behave, what their health needs are and what can make them more settled and content. Lack of sleep can be a huge source of exhaustion, can create enormous stress and can contribute to the onset of postnatal depression. Understanding how babies sleep better, what can help them be more comfortable and develop good sleep patterns can make a new baby much more manageable.  I am able to offer support with this.  I can help you develop an increased feeling of coping. I will advise if needed regarding feeding issues, whether breastfeeding or formula feeding, can help you work out if your baby has wind, reflux or colic and am experienced in remedies, both medicinal and natural.  Sometimes medical advice is needed with babies, but very often things can be dealt with at home.  Having been a nurse working with children in the UK National Health Service for over 25 years, I have a calm and pragmatic approach and the experience to know when a medical opinion is required. I love helping parents enjoy their babies right from day one.  I will alleviate anxiety and give you confidence to care for your baby in a safe and happy way.  I have experience in the health issues new babies have and can advise about the Spanish immunisation schedule. I can advise you regarding your own postnatal physical and emotional recovery and am trained in screening for early postnatal depression. The standard postnatal package comprises 8 postnatal visits during the first six weeks, with more during the first week and includes text support for the duration of the programme.  The enhanced postnatal package comprises 12 postnatal visits during the first eight weeks, with more during the first week and includes text support for the duration of the programme.  Support at the end of the package does not need to end. Ongoing advice and visits are available and can be arranged as needed, with increased input at times of difficulty or challenges.  Any packages for behaviour, routines, weaning or sleep are available at reduced cost for returning clients. You will enjoy your first few weeks with your baby in the knowledge that you are not missing important health and development issues and the early bonding phase will be the foundation of a health relationship with your baby for the coming months. I look forward to helping you with this.  If you would like to discuss the programme to see if it’s for you please contact me. I am very happy to talk it through with you.
